Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year here at Canton Junior High School!

I am delighted to be able to have the opportunity to teach your child 7th grade science this school year!  7th grade primarily focuses on life science and the dynamics of other sciences around life.  I want your student to be successful and have a few tips that will help them and you aide in a successful school year in the subject of science.

(1)  Make sure you sign up for Parent Portal.  Parent Portal is a program designed to allow you to have access to your students grades at all times.  You received information in your packet when you registered regarding how to sign up and set up the account for every one of your students enrolled in Canton ISD.  I update grades every week and so you should have no problem keeping up with your student's grades and progress throughout each quarter.  Be sure to set up the parent portal to send you alerts when your student makes a grade below your expectations.  This will alert you to go to parent portal, check the assignment and the grade, and you can communicate with your student to help them remain successful by making changes to help them.

(2) Sign up for Remind 101!  Remind 101 allows me to send text message announcements  to remind you and students of upcoming due dates for assignments, projects, tests or general announcements.  I encourage both you and your student (if they have a device) to sign up.  Students can feel more independent and in charge of their learning by having access to this tool.  You having access with Remind 101 will help you communicate with your student regarding upcoming assignments, projects or tests to help them stay on top of their assignments.

(3)  Communication with me.  Feel free to contact me anytime you need to know something or have a question about how your student is doing in science.  My conference is 7th period which runs from 1:37 p.m. to 2:19 p.m. approximately.  My telephone number is (903) 567-4329.  Communication is key between you and your student and myself in helping students be successful.  I feel these items help in that communication so everyone is informed and up-to-date with any issues or items that arise in the course during the school year to aide in the success of each and every student.

The course outline is under their class period and is provided to help give you an idea about what material is taught and when throughout the year.

With your help, I am looking forward to a successful and fabulous school year for everyone!
