Mrs. Basham's Math Class

Hello! I am so excited to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year. I will be teaching 6th grade math at the Junior High.

Math this year will include a lot of brand new topics like integers, ratios, fraction, decimal, and percent conversions, writing and solving equations and inequalities, and much much more! We will be covering a lot of material so it will be important that students are giving their best efforts in class. The biggest piece of advice I can give an incoming student is to ask questions along the way and let me know if you are not understanding something as soon as possible. The quicker I can help you the more confident you will feel and the more you will enjoy my class.

My class will include daily classroom warm ups, note taking, independent practice, group work, projects, quizzes, tests, games, stories, and lots of fun. I really try to not send much homework home, it should be very minimal unless you are not getting your work done in class.

Progress reports and report cards will be sent home every 9 weeks, I will also send home grade reports throughout the year for students to monitor grades.

Supplies: 1 inch notebook, 5 pack dividers, expo markers, notebook paper, pencils

Daily grades account for 50% and Test grades account for 50% of the student's overall average

Anything besides end of 9 Weeks tests and the STAAR can be corrected.

If students make a failing grade, they have 1 week to make corrections and bring that grade up to a 70.

If a student is struggling they can ask for a pass and come in during IEC time or lunch time for additional help.

If a student does not turn in an assignment on time they will be assigned a lunch detention to complete the assignment. If a stunt receives 3 lunch detentions in a 9-week Period they will be assigned an after school detention.
