My name is Sarah Evans, and I teach 6th grade Pre AP and Double Block Math here at Canton Jr High. (Go Eagles!)
I graduated High School in Mineola and then went on to study at Texas A&M and UT Tyler, where I received my Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Math. I am married to my husband, Doug, and we currently have a sweet doggie named Lyla, a 1 year old son named Carter, and another boy, Lane, due this November!
I love teaching, and enjoy coming to work every day to see my students and my colleagues. My favorite days are spent with my family and friends! A few of my favorite things are church, Amazon, Target, Butterfingers, and the Dallas Cowboys!! J
If you ever need to get in touch with me, all of my contact information can be found below! Email is usually the best and fastest way to get ahold of me!
I try to use various teaching methods in order to reach more of my students. I have found that students learn better when they are actively involved in their learning. If ever a student needs extra help, here are a few things I recommend:
Teacher Help - Advisory is a wonderful tool for students that are struggling with a concept. It allows the student to get more teacher face time and to ask last minute help questions before turning in assignments! Please do not hesitate to come to advisory any day of the week. I would highly encourage struggling students to attend!!!
If ever a child is needing help before or after school, please make arrangements with me prior to the day of and I will do my best to help however I can.
Parent Help- At the beginning of the school year, 2 Math books are sent home. These are the BEST resources for home help! Every concept that we will cover this year can be found in these books!! They break down lessons in various ways, and can even be used for parents to refresh their math before helping their child. They also have lots of great practice questions and assignments for kiddos that need that extra practice time! A great FREE website that I recommend for those that have access to internet at home is https://www.khanacademy.org/
